TASTING NOTES
INSPIRED by local heritage our small batch gins are distilled in the heart of the Charente, surrounded by the most gorgeous Cognac country.
We use a similar method of distillation that the region’s Cognac House’s have used for centuries, employing a beautiful copper still, and a live tended flame.
The extra attention to detail is worth it, giving an incredibly smooth finish, yet allowing each of the botanicals to tell it’s own unique story.
1620 GINS are as at home in a cocktail menu as they are in a classic G&T, their smooth finish and intense flavors make them perfect sipping gins, we always encourage patrons trying our gins for the first time to try them straight or on the rocks.
Cognac Cask Batch
A marriage of eight botanicals in the ancient oak of our Cognac barrels teases out the notes of burnt caramel and light vanilla from the wood’s grain. This results in a rich elegant nose, and a smooth, warm, expanding wash over the palate, with just a hint of sweetness to finish.
London Dry Batch
This is a classic London Dry. It has a very refreshing nose with strong juniper notes embraced in coriander and cardamom, hints of angelica and Charentaise melon balance this flavoursome gin to perfection. In common with it’s Cognac Cask cousin it has a silky smooth finish.
A gin drinkers gin.
The 80’
At 80% vol. this is a cask strength gin.
It’s strength matched only by it’s flavor, intense, yet still smooth thanks to the traditional method of production, and the mellowness that only a copper still can bestow. Hints of sweet orange and angelica are imparted through the botanicals giving a balance to the strength of this exceptional gin.
A very popular gin with mixologists, creating intense flavor without dilution. Meanwhile behind the bar, a single shot in a tall glass of ice topped with tonic or ginger is the perfect long drink. The 80’ is the most versatile of gins.
